Even though I don’t practice as an architect, my degree in Architecture influences everything I do, from painting to photography, book arts to writing . . . not to mention how I experience and interpret my environment. Urban design was one aspect of my studies that I especially enjoyed, and I have always considered myself very much a ‘city’ girl. Vertical Cityscape is the final (and my favorite) of a series of paintings inspired by my collective impression of the skyline as a concept. The buildings fill most of the canvas, while the lower portion is a reflection—a nod toward the many cities built along a river or by the sea.
My original oil painting is reproduced on 100% cotton, museum-grade paper. The image itself measures 4 x 10 inches (10.1 x 25.4 cm) and ‘floats’ on the paper to allow more flexibility with matting and/or framing. (The ratio between image & white space is shown beneath the painting.) The print is titled & signed on the back, and packaged in a clear archival sleeve. (Click on either image for a larger view; please note that the images you see on the site are saved at a low resolution for the web, but they are of course printed at high resolution.)
